Location

 Panthera Sanctuary is a private reserve in the Amazonian lowlands on tierra firme soils. The reserve is within a seasonally flooded forest with the dry season from April to October and the wet season from November to March. 

The reserve is located 1 hour by boat from the city of Puerto Maldonado, Peru on the Madre de Dios River. 

 

Puerto Maldonado is often described as the gateway to the Amazon as many travelers wishing to experience the beautiful Peruvian Amazon start their journey there.

 

The city of Puerto Maldonado is accessible by bus or by plane. Puerto Maldonado is a 2-hour flight from Lima or a 50-minute flight from Cusco.

Many options for overnight buses are available from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado.
